Hi Ladies
I hope you’re all having a great weekend. I’ve been watching the Great North Run on the TV, wishing that I could have been there. I really worked hard at my training this time round so not being able to take part was a little frustrating, I must admit. Needless to say, I’ll definitely be entering another race asap – I love having a fitness challenge to focus on
I apologise for the lack of posts and comments recently. I’ve been reading all of your wonderful blogs but have lacked the motivation to post on my own. Even now, as I type, I’m finding it difficult to find the words so I’ll let a picture do the talking….
Anyway, today I’m going to talk to you about FOOD INTOLERANCES, as this subject has occupied a fair bit of space in my brain since I took my intolerance tests. If you’ve read my previous posts, you may remember that my tests detected a severe intolerance to dairy products, along with whole eggs, brazil nuts and cashews.
As I left the health centre that day, I told myself that I was going to eliminate the said foods from my diet, to see if this would bring about improvements in my health and general wellbeing…..I was prepared to do anything within reason to get myself feeling better after two solid months of feeling like a completely different person.
Every day, I was bouncing from one symptom to the next. I’d wake up exhausted, yawn my way through the day and then force myself to exercise each evening. I suffered from daily headaches, extreme fatigue, low mood, restless legs, crawling sensations on my skin and the usual tummy troubles. I lacked motivation towards pretty much everything because my energy levels were so low. I suffered from recurrent impetigo and slept minimally for weeks on end……I became really fed up!!
At first I thought that I was simply becoming depressed but after cutting dairy from my diet, I’ve noticed HUGE changes in my energy levels. I’m sleeping better than ever, I haven’t had a single headache and I wake up each morning feeling refreshed and ready to face the day…….I’m amazed at how much better I feel.
So yes, I’m now powered by tofu! And I’ve never felt better. I’m hoping that this strength will translate into my running soon
I urge you to take a food intolerance test if you feel that a particular type of food is causing you discomfort on a daily basis. You may have to dash to the bathroom all of the time or take painkillers like it’s your job. You may feel anxious, depressed, fidgety or simply just all wrong!. It’s amazing what can be revealed by a simple blood test.
I wish you all health and happiness
Do you have any known food allergies or intolerances?
xoxo

YAY that sounds great for you! it must feel so nice to know what your body wants!
Hope you’re ok xx
This is really interesting because I’m struggling in a similar way at the moment, I’ve got to get myself tested! I already don’t eat gluten because of my coeliac disease but maybe there’s something else… glad to hear it’s made you so much better – and I love the smiling tofu
Cool! Way to listen to your body
By the way, I’m stealing your grandma, she’s ADORABLE!!
so happy that you’ve worked out what works for your body!
Im going for my first ever blood test on friday. Im going to get them to do an intolerance test as well, ya know, just for the hell of it.
I hope shes doing okay.
Your grandma is adorable
And Im glad to hear youre doing better!!!
That’s so great you’re feeling better! I think I have a slight dairy intolerance and if I eat too much of it in a day I reap the benefits. I just have to limit myself to smaller portion sizes
glad you are feeling better! dairy does sit well with us either
I’m so glad you are feeling better! I have a sneaking feeling that I have some kind of food intolerance, but I have no idea how to pinpoint it. Once I have a period of time that is relatively stress-free, I plan to either take a food intolerance test or do an elimination diet.
That’s great that you’ve worked out what your intolerant too. Now it will be easier to plan/prep meals that won’t cause you any discomfort throughout the day!
Glad to hear you’re doing better girl!!!
Aw babe I’m sorry about your Grandmother. Hope you’re starting to feel better about that, I know how hard it is!
I wish I knew where to take food intolerance tests Though I feel pretty great with dairy in my diet, so i don’t think i’m intolerant… especially considering the fact that I eat a lot of it and seem to be fine. I’m glad you figured out what works for you!
I have a self diagnoses avocado intolerance but that food intolerance test you had made me want to get one!
I am sorry about your grandma, I am sending you all the strength I have! But I am so glad you are feeling better after getting rid of dairy! I don´t konw of any intolerances I could have but the truth is that I have been experiencing similar symptoms as you describe for the last couple of weeks. Maybe I need some tests too
I’m very lucky as I don’t believe I have any intolerances but saying that really feel the effects of sugar on my body, to the point of feeling ill. I’m sitting here now feeling like I have a hangover and that’s down to the amount of cinder toffee I ate yesterday! So sorry to hear about your Grandma too. I’m sure that you’ll be back on track with your running in no time!
I just recently discovered I’m lactose intolerant and I’ve had to make some pretty big changes to my diet as a result. But now that I’ve cut out dairy I really feel no desire to go back – I feel so much better on a near vegan diet. So I guess it’s not such a bad thing after all
I’m so glad that you found out what was bothering you.
Dairy is one of those things that bothers me. I feel so much better now that I’ve cut it out.
