Love Grown Baby

Hi Ladies :-) I hope you’re all doing well and have lots of fun things planned for the summer. I write this post from the comfort of my bed, making the most of my day off from work. I can hear the rain pouring down outside, making it all the more cosy in my little nest. I’m enjoying a cuppa and nibbling on a pressie from my little fashionista ;-)

Nicky was right…this stuff is addictive! It’s so crunchy and I know it’ll be great on top of vanilla yoghurt.

So…I’m now 30 weeks into my pregnancy and my little man is moving around so much! I can feel legs, arms, head and bum all twisting around in there…..and boy does he like to move!!! Watching the olympics has had me thinking that maybe my son will be an athlete one day because he sure is active :-)

Body wise, my little bump is continuing to grow, although it was recently discovered that it looks as though my son is going to be a small baby. I’m measuring below average on the bump scales and had to have an extra growth scan to check all was ok. Although I have to keep going for extra prenatal appointments to keep a close eye on him, the midwives and specialist have reached the conclusion that I’m genetically not meant to have a big baby. Suits me!

Brain wise….hmmm……it’s been a tough time and I’m not going to lie. Surprisingly, it has not been my changing body that has affected me but more or less a generalised depression. After talking to a specialist, we came to the conclusion that I’ve simply had too much to cope with during this pregnancy and this triggered my depression to re-emerge. I’m not going to lie – some days have felt like torture, however, now that the only imminent change is the arrival of our baby, I feel like I can finally focus completely on my pregnancy.

Food wise……lets see some of the things I’ve been enjoying of late….. ImageLots of tea! This was apple, mango and berry – mmm!ImageDelicious fresh salads – I’ve developed a new love of radishes! Pregnancy sure is weird!ImageRaw raisins – to satisfy a late night choccie craving. I say craving but really I just felt like something sweet….my chocolate tooth has turned into a savoury tooth since I became pregnant but I still like the odd bit :-) ImageMixed plates with lots of random bits and bobs thrown on. I love dinners like this – like a healthy buffet tea :-)

Oh…..and yesterday I pulled this little number out of my NYC box. A great pre-gym snack to get me through a long elliptical session, accompanied by a good dose of olympic running. I cannot wait to get running properly again!!!!!!! I am actually really excited to run without a baby head butting my bladder again! Of course, I mainly can’t wait to meet my little man…..but the olympics has made me feel inspired towards running again postnatally :-)               Image

As I’ve mentioned previously, my diet has been fully vegetarian throughout my pregnancy. Although it was mainly vegan beforehand, I decided that vegetarianism would be the way forward for me if I ever needed to grow a little person, purely on nutritional grounds. The midwives and doctors I’ve spoken to have been in agreement and mentioned that vegan diets are not usually recommended during pregnancy. I think that every woman needs to just make her own decision about their pregnancy nutrition and as long as she and her baby are healthy, then all is good! Me….well I don’t think I’d have managed to get enough calcium in me if I didn’t eat cheese and yoghurt. In fact, dairy is the nearest thing to a craving I’ve had!

On a more personal level, a dairy-free diet is optimal for me when I’m not pregnant so I’ll probably be back to experimenting in the kitchen again once I’m on maternity leave :-)

Anyway ladies…this baby is on my bladder so nature calls!

LOVE TO YOU ALL XOXO

  1. Lovely to see an update from you, darling! Foods look delicious, I really need to try the raw choccy raisins, and am also loving mixed salad plates for lunch and dinner!

Gosh, you are getting close to your due date! It’s so exciting. I’d love to see a Bump Photo!
    xxx

AAAAHH I keep forgetting how close you are getting now!!!! Your tiny little boy will be here in the big wide world before we even know it eeeeee! It will be a relief for you to have him off your poor bladder!
I'm glad you like the granola lovie :) Now you can see why I have been eating it so fast hehe! I can't believe you still have things from NYC..you've done well to not scoff them all down like greedy guts over here :P
Keep going lovie, you are a.m.a.z.i.n.g. and look, the end is on the horizon with happy times ahead :) love you xxxx

  3. What a cute title for your blog update :)

So lovely to hear from you and get a little update on how you are doing. I am so excited for you to meet your baba boy sooon!

The Olympics have been great eh? I am watching high jumps just now… the thing I was worst at in school. I’ll blame it on my height as I’m a shorty ;)

Look after yourself and if I don’t hear from you before I hope your labour goes well and all the very best xxx

  4. Hope your ok chick, sorry to hear you’ve struggled a bit but it sounds like your handling it all really well. You must be so excited about the little one being on its way! My best friend and cousin are both expected their babies this weekend and I can’t wait to be ‘auntie laura’ again :-)

  5. I do think its great that you widened your diet during pregnancy. Though I do believe that one can live healthy and get all the vitamines one needs from a vegan diet, I would make everything sure that a little second one does not miss out on important nutrients.

Also the “love grown” crunchs looks amazing. I always drooled over it on Nicky’s blog, and now that it came up again, I just wanna plan my next London visit for food shopping sake :D
