A Lovely Saturday

Hey hey! How are you all doing gals?

I hope you are all having a great weekend and that the sun is shining in your part of the world. Since entering the third trimester of pregnancy, my body and brain have done the textbook thing of falling into a sleepy and forgetful state. Being someone who is always busy and active, this has been a tough thing to accept at times, however, what else can I do but embrace it?

My usual Saturday would involve an 8 mile run, catching up with friends, lunch with Phil, a wander and grocery shopping, followed by a night cooking, watching movies and just generally having some time with my man. I’d be up and moving for most of the day and would stay up late to squeeze as much time out of the day as possible.

Nowadays, I feel like a totally different person. I feel exhausted and uncomfortable most of the time and I look forward to very little (apart from going to bed!). I go to bed as early as I ever have, sleep late and lie down often. It is not easy to have lost a sense of oneself.

Needless to say, yesterday was a good day. Mr Rox and I met up with friends who are also expecting (and twins at that!!) for a trip to the local nature reserve, where we chatted in the cafe and got the binoculars out on the seals and birds. There were so many dragonflies! I even got one to land on my hand – so cool!

ImageI managed to get a few shots with my iPhone – this is a female common darter dragonfly :-)

After returning from our little outing, Phil and I swung by the local supermarket and picked up a single use BBQ and some burgers/sausages/veggie burgers. On arrival back at the house, on went the Olympic athletics, out came Phil’s raspberry cider and up went the BBQ :-)

Twas lovely :-) And the night really heated up when Mo ran amazingly to claim another Olympic Gold! :-) I was up and shouting at the TV! Of course Tom Daily also made us proud in the diving – his reaction was great! What an athlete!

Smokin!

My veggie burger complete with salad and halloumi….yum!

Roasting peppers to stuff with couscous later :-)

  2. Another veggiehead with a meat loving boyfriends – so happy that I am not alone out here ;) Your day sounds amazing! And it is always so interesting to read about your experiences throughout the pregnancy.

  3. Aww this sounds absolutely lovely :-) I’m glad you still managed to have a positive and fun Saturday despite feeling so zonked! Although I’m obviously not in the same boat as you (clearly not pregnant haha!) I do know how it feels to feel like you’re losing your identity to fatigue and it is difficult, not long now though!!

Raspberry cider sounds delicious and I love roasted peppers stuffed with couscous :-)
